However, certain times of year do offer practical advantages depending on the type of tree, its location and the specific circumstances of the job. Here is what you need to know.

Is There A Best Time Of Year For Tree Removal?

In most cases, the best time to have a tree removed is whenever it needs to be done. If a tree is dangerous, structurally compromised or causing significant problems for your property, waiting for a particular season is not advisable.

That said, where the removal is planned in advance and there is flexibility around timing, late autumn and winter are often considered the most practical period for the majority of tree removal work. Here is why.

Late Autumn & Winter: The Practical Advantages

Reduced Foliage Makes The Job Easier

Most broadleaved trees shed their leaves between October and December, leaving the crown bare through the winter months.

Working on a tree without its full canopy gives the tree surgeon a clearer view of the branch structure and makes it easier to assess the tree's condition, plan the dismantling sequence and carry out the work efficiently.

Access to the upper sections of the tree is also easier without a dense covering of leaves obscuring the working environment.

Less Disruption To The Surrounding Garden

With less growth in the garden during the winter months, access to the tree and the surrounding area is typically easier, and the risk of damage to lawns, borders and other planting is reduced.
